Okanagan FAM – Day 4

The wait is over… the fourth and final installment of the Okanagan FAM is here. Our amazing time in BC’s Wine region comes to a close on Day 4, but we cannot wait to showcase the Okanagan Valley to future Cantrav guests.

After saying goodbye to our partners at the Delta Hotels Grand Okanagan Resort, who sent us off in style from our snack packs to our socks, we began our journey towards Vernon. If you’re looking for a rejuvenating retreat that encourages your group to open their minds with fresh eyes than Sparkling Hill Resort should be on your radar. Only a half hour drive from the Kelowna airport, but you feel like you’re in the middle of a sparkling sanctuary. With 360o views of Okanagan Lake on one side and valley views on the other, the scenic value of the resort is priceless. With a focus on health and wellness, the one-of-a-kind spa and spa services are sure to impress even the most seasoned traveler. There are several meeting spaces available for smaller groups but you can also utilize the nearby Predator Ridge Golf Course for offsite functions or tent the front entrance of the hotel for a unique experience for larger groups.

After breakfast at Sparkling Hill, we headed into Lake Country. The proprietors of 50th Parallel Winery, Curtis & Cheryl, have a fantastic energy and are about to do great things for the summer of 2018!  With a new restaurant, function space and wine-tasting room it’s winery that will be in hot demand for anyone looking to host an event with some pretty amazing views!

New to the Okanagan wine scene is The Chase Winery in Lake Country. Their small but impassively accommodating kitchen was able to create a fabulous vegan, gluten free pizza that emphasized the chef’s culinary talents at lunch. We loved their simple, understated but oh so beautiful patio and can absolutely see using the space for groups next summer as guests will love custom built oversized umbrellas that offer shade for the Okanagan heat. The winery also has some exciting adventures coming up in the near future – let’s just say it involves wine tunnels….

The laid-back art gallery vibe of Ex Nihilo was the last stop on our trip and it offered such a contrast to many of the wineries we had already visited. Learning about their collaboration and partnership with the Rolling Stones for one of their wines seemed like a perfect fit as the only thing that felt missing from their tasting room was an electric guitar. It was the perfect spot to mix music, wine and art lovers; we envision using this space for a smaller group and turning the peaked ceiling barrel room into a chic forest picnic under the stars – indoors! Ps – try the Pinot Noir; trust us.

We would sincerely like to thank all of our partners who extended their generous hospitality to us during the Okanagan FAM, especially Tourism Kelowna. Cantrav is incredibly grateful to have such wonderful partners and we look forward to our next experience with you in the beautiful Okanagan!
